Ever since it was founded by Guylaine Rivard and Serge Potvin in 1997, Théâtre CRI – Centre de Recherche et d’Interprétation – has been dedicated to providing a space for exploration and creation for artisans of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean theatre scene.

With the aim of freeing creativity from the straitjacket of a strict framework, the CRI has deliberately explored an anthology of forms of expression: puppetry for adults, masked play, theater of the absurd, invisible theater, gestural theater and opera. Aesthetically, he offers audiences stage designs that are sometimes minimalist, sometimes crude, tirelessly reinforcing his desire to reinterpret materials, objects and costumes.

After 25 years of work that commands respect, the CRI continues its daring and singular creative adventure, thanks to the perseverance of its founders and the commitment of generous artists who continually strive to surpass themselves to the delight of interested and curious spectators.
